Yonlada Suanyos beat out two male opponents to win a seat as councillor for local government in Nan province in northern Thailand.
The 30-year-old Katoey said her position on the Provincial Administration Organization (PAO) Council will help her work better with the government while solving problems concerning the rights of women and trans-female groups. Suanyot, nickname NOK, is a former beauty pageant winner and a photographic model. But in Thailand she is perhaps best known as the singer "Posh Venus" in an all-transgender pop group called

Venus Flytrap, a Spice Girls–like act. After Yonlada left the group she started a jewellery business and a home-shopping satellite television station.

The residents in Yambon Tai Ban Mai, Pak Nam, Samut Prakan elected Choochat Dulayapraphatsorn, also known as 'Je Kob' (sister frog), as village head 'man'. The 46 years old transvestite defeated three male candidates in the village election. 'Even though I am a transvestite, I can do hard, physical jobs just as well as the men, if not better' he/she said.

P.C. Air, Thailand's new Airline, is hiring transsexuals as flight attendants to set itself apart from competitors as it sets out for the skies.
PC Air is a charter airline set to start operations on Asian routes in April 2011. The airline said it may hire more flight attendants from the third gender in the future since the Department of Civil Aviation has no objections. The airline is initially set to fly to South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and China.
On October 26th 2012 Thailand's Department of Civil Aviation suspended the operation licence of PC Air.
